Announcing the 8th International Print Exchange

Hello Printmakers! We are pleased to announce PrintZero Studios Exchange 8!

You might be asking, “What is an exchange?” Well, each participating artist creates an edition of 15 prints, which are submitted to PrintZero Studios. In return for participation, artists each receive 13 randomly collated prints by other artists from around the world (2 prints are kept for archiving and exhibition). All prints submitted for the exchange will be exhibited at PrintZero Studios Seattle in August.

In conjunction with the exchange artists will automatically be entered into the running for our juried exhibition. Thirty artists will be selected for exhibition and a full color catalog of the selected work will be published. Our juror this year is David Jones, director of Anchor Graphics, Chicago, IL.

Exchange 8 Details

Edition of 15 prints
paper size is 7″ x 10″ (17.8 cm x 25.4 cm)
there is a $20 fee for participation ($25 international)
each print must be slip sheeted with glassine measuring 7″ x 10″
Any traditional printmaking process including lithography, intaglio, silkscreen, relief, etc…
No Solely digital prints
Prints must be received by July 1st, 2012
There is no theme
Prints that do not fit the requirements will be returned to the artist

About the Juror

David Jones is the Founder and Director of Anchor Graphics. Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, he moved to the Midwest to pursue studies in photography and printmaking. He attended the Center for Photographic Studies, Louisville; Banff Centre for the Arts; the Vancouver School of Art; received his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute, and is currently pursuing his MFA at the Center for Book and Paper Arts. He has taught printmaking at the Chicago Art Institute and at Columbia College Chicago, and serves on the Advisory Board of the Highpoint Center for Printmaking, Minneapolis and the Board of Directors of Southern Graphics Council International. He was Interim Director at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, NYC.

His work has been included in numerous exhibits in Chicago, Mexico, and throughout the U.S. Upcoming shows include a two-person exhibit at Moreau Galleries, St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN, and LeRoy Neiman Gallery, Columbia University School of the Arts, NYC.

Kay Rosen Prints Available!

Last summer, Jeremy was contracted by Anchor Graphics to run an edition of prints for the artist Kay Rosen. The prints were commissioned by the Chicago Loop Alliance as a part of the “Go Do Good” campaign: found here. An image of the public installation of the project can be viewed here.

PrintZero Studios hosts “Drum of the Draw” June 11th

“Drum of the Draw” is a bi-yearly drawing invitational event that brings artists and their creative process to the public, providing affordable art to Seattle, priced between $20.00 and $200.00. The next event is June 11th, 2011.

We will be drawing from 5-9pm, Saturday, June 11th. Georgetown’s Carnival will be happening the same day so there will be plenty of things to see. Parking is available across the street at Emerald City Bindery.

The show will be open daily in the month of March during normal store hours. There are 227 artists from 15 countries represented in this print exchange.

Want to help support PrintZero’s Seattle Studio space? Get your limited edition, 2011 Seattle Art Walk Calendar, presented by PrintZero Studios.

The calendar features the work of a variety of wonderful Seattle artists including: Allyce Wood, Dennis Raines, Michael Azzano and Theresa Neinas. Each calendar is 11×17 and hand printed by Brian Lane and Jess Rees.

Juried Exhibition showing in Miami and Chicago

The Exchange 7 juried exhibition, Selections from the PrintZero Studios Exchange opens today at the University of Miami Wynwood Project Space in Miami, FL. The exhibition will run from September 6 – October 1, with an opening reception on September 11th from 6-10 pm.

Selections from the PrintZero Studios Exchange will also be on view in Chicago this September at the Anchor Graphics Fish Tank. The Fish Tank is located in the hallway between Anchor Graphics and Columbia College Chicago’s Student Printshop, on the 2nd floor at 623 S. Wabash.

PrintZero Studios presents: Jennifer Hines: Works on Paper

Join Chicago based printmaker/artist Jennifer Hines for an exhibition opening on July 17th, from 4 – 7pm. A northwest native, this will be her second show at PrintZero in the last 4 years. Jennifer will be presenting various works on paper incorporating printmaking, drawing, painting, sewing and digital elements.
